Translations International
Translations International, Inc. (TIINC), formerly McNeil Multilingual, is a language services company with deep roots in the field of business translation. McNeil Multilingual was formed in 2000 as a division of McNeil Technologies, which gave McNeil Multilingual access to the organization's tremendous linguistic resources. McNeil Technologies provides a range of information management, security, intelligence, and language services to various organizations, with a specialization in work for U.S. government agencies. Its 800-plus employees work on documents for the Department of Defense, State Department, Foreign Service Institute, and Defense Language Institute, as well as many other Federal and State agencies. After its formation, McNeil Multilingual quickly grew through the acquisition of two companies: The AMPAC Group, acquired in 2000, was the pre-eminent source for in-house Asian language translation and typesetting in the US. It was 15 years old when it was acquired. Contact International (known as the Center for Technical Translation), acquired in 2003, was 13 years old, and a recognized industry leader in dedicated project management. Each of these companies had a stellar reputation for client service and a lengthy history of hands-on translation project management. McNeil Multilingual, led by Suraj Singh since 2000, integrated these companies into a single, dynamic entity that had more resources and expertise at its command through the connection with McNeil Technologies. In May 2007, Suraj Singh acquired McNeil Multilingual and in 2008 changed its name to Translations International, Inc. This new company still has an alliance with McNeil Technologies, which gives it access to the deep linguistic resources of that organization. Finally, in February 2009, Translations International announced the acquisition of Bethesda, Maryland, based Advanced Communication and Translation Inc. (ACT). The acquisition expanded Translations International's face-to-face interpreting capabilities and strengthens its existing government contracting business unit with the addition of ACT's GSA language services schedule. TIINC serves some of the largest US governmental clients, such as the US House of Representatives, the US Senate, the US Department of Justice and the US Department of Defense. Today Translations International is a well established and seasoned SBA 8(a) certified Disadvantaged Business, as well as a Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), with offices throughout the US. TIINC offers high-quality translation, interpreting, transcription and desktop publishing in more than 150 languages, with a worldwide network of more than 3,000 pre-approved translators and interpreters.
