Central Asia

The Times of Central Asia( TCA) was founded in 1999 by Giorgio Fiacconi, an Italian investor who has lived and worked in the region for 20 years. The objective, today as then, is attract foreign investment and experts to Central Asia, as well as providing unbiased, independent information on its economies, business opportunities, tax legislation and politics. Subscribers include embassies, development organisations, international businesses, universities, expatriates and major hotels. Taking on interns from the region and around the world, and with its founder lecturing in universities, The Times of Central Asia (TCA) was transferred to a charitable non-governmental organisation in 2002, the Central Asia Media Institute (CAMI). CAMI exists to promote independent media in Central Asia, including The Times of Central Asia newspaper and its website, employing 20 people throughout the region, and training scores of others over the years. Published continuously for 14 years through two revolutions, authoritarian regimes and media crackdowns, The Times of Central Asia has since embraced a new digital format and printed its final hard copy on 28 March, 2013. The new digital edition continues to publish every day the work of correspondents from all over Central Asia, as well as exclusive guest columns, and the most up-to-date news from online sources throughout the region.
