Todos Supermarket
Todos Supermarket was created in July of 1990 with the purpose of fulfilling the needs of the growing Hispanic Community in Woodbridge, Virginia. As the community grew so did the supermarket, going from 2,500 sq. ft. in 1990 to 5,000 sq. ft. in 1996, and then to 15,000 sq. ft. store in 2001. In 2011 "Todos Supermarket" moved to its currently location as the anchor store at Marumsco Plaza with a total square footage of 50,000 sq. ft. With "Todos" meaning "everyone," the owners Carlos Castro and his wife Gladis Castro had to find a way to prove that their commitment was indeed to the entire community. Todos Supermarket received the Tayloe Murphy Resilience Award in the Retail Sector by Darden School of Business of the University of Virginia, a significant state competition that highlights and promotes the most resilient businesses in the most economically-challenged parts of the Commonwealth.
