In its infancy in 1987, the business was acquired and operated as a small engineering firm called Saw & Tool Services Ltd, specializing in sharpening knives, blades and cutters, and employing three staff in central Christchurch. As the business developed, we began experimenting in importing equipment from overseas and soon grew to a sixteen-person team, handling not only the engineering side of the business, but also the sales and marketing of new imported equipment. After a name change to TopmaQ in 2003 and a change in customers' sharpening requirements, we sold the engineering part of the business on to focus our energy on importing. We soon established our second 600sqM branch in central Dunedin, employing two staff, to fulfill demand at the lower half of the South Island. In 2007, we built a new head office in Wigram, Christchurch with a 3000sqM warehouse capable of handling and distributing all imported products. Soon our central Christchurch branch was relocated to the neighbouring site of our new warehouse to make the operation a convenient one-stop-shop. With a strong presence in the South Island, our ambition was to expand into the North Island, so in 2012 we built a new 3000sqM third branch in Mangere, Auckland, which was also capable of handling imported products directly from overseas and distributing in the North Island. In 2015, we established a fourth branch in Timaru. Nationwide, we currently employ a team of 23 staff and we are eager to look for more opportunities to expand our growing business to keep up with increasing demand. WHY BUY FROM TOPMAQ?
