Trade Aid
One way in which Trade Aid, as a New Zealand based organisation, can practically honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi is by using tikanga Mori and te reo Mori appropriately in our regular activities. Trade Aid encourages an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi amongst its staff, trustees and volunteers. Education about Te Tiriti o Waitangi will help to deepen our understanding of Mori perspectives, and in so doing also broaden our understanding of the impact of colonisation on the Indigenous and marginalised communities with whom we work. Trade Aid encourages the development of relationships between Trade Aid entities and local Mori communities. Trade Aid entities in New Zealand operate in a local environment. Engaging with local Mori communities in the areas in which we operate will contribute to our understanding of Mori aspirations and our ability to support them. The Trade Aid Movement is on a journey to continuously learn, improve and reflect on this important mahi. If you would like further information or if you have feedback for us, we encourage you to get in touch. Trade Aid staff and family members having fun at a Trade Aid Matariki celebration.
