Trident Academy
Trident Academy provides students with the tools to transition into a traditional academic program. A small classroom environment provides teachers with the ability to truly understand and plan lessons based on their students' academic and social needs. The Mount Pleasant school has served cognitively capable students with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia for over four decades. Prior to 1972, Trident Academy was known as the Reading Clinic and was housed in a downtown Charleston church. Through the generosity of Bill Detyens, at that time a Trident Academy parent, the land was donated for the school where the campus is today.
