Twintec

Made possible by the hospitality and co-operation of Carillion Alawi at the new manufacturing facility under construction by them for United Engineering Services LLC where Twintec had designed and were constructing a 9,500m2 steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) ground floor slab with 'jointless' bays of up to 30m x 22m. Guests were invited to attend a Deminar to learn more about 'jointless' SFRC technology and meet members of the Twintec team. The format of the Deminar included dinner followed by a technical presentation by Tom Menary, Twintec's International Technical & Commercial Manager hosted at the Rusayl Administrative complex of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates. The clients perspective was explained by Simon Hatfield, Senior Project Manager of Musstir and Arun Sripathi, Manager Operations, represented Carillion and talked through the benefits to a general contractor of employing a specialist flooring contractor. This was followed by a site tour where guests were able to see at first hand Twintec's highly skilled and experienced workforce carrying out steel fibre integration and concrete placing works as well as being able to inspect areas of finished slab. Visitors were shown the steel profile armoured construction joints that were used at the edge of panel to facilitate smooth load transfer and the slab was finished using a natural coloured dry-shake topping to provide high abrasion resistance. Twintec slab designs utilise steel fibre reinforced concrete and large panels with no saw cut joints. The slab depth was 160mm, reinforced with 30kg/m³ of AFT 0.8/55 steel fibres and the total area of 8,750m² was constructed in 5 working days. Twintec as standard provide a 5 year warranty on all slabs designed and built worldwide. Twintec design and build 6 million m² of SFRC 'jointless' slabs worldwide each year and operate in Oman with local partner Aflag Group to offer a unique Design-Build-Insure service to ensure that total responsibility for the design and construction of the floor slab lies with Twintec as a specialist flooring contractor.
