1996: Unic was founded in Bern by four adventurous business men: Patrick Barnert, Stephan Handschin, Rudolf Meyer and Gerrit Taaks. At the same time the young entrepreneurs Chris and Jonathan Möller founded Smartmedia in Zurich. 2002: The two successful businesses merge and now operate under the name of Unic AG.
