Univali
Located on the central northern coast of the State of Santa Catarina, it has campuses in the towns of Itajaí, Balneário Camboriú, Biguaçu, Balneário Piçarras, São José and Tijucas. Its multicampus structure, and its policy of emphasizing practical experience, enable the university to serve the community in many different areas, promoting local and global growth through the production and socialization of knowledge, and the activities of teaching, research and extension. The university has more than 25 thousand students. Its built area consists of 170 thousand m2, with 566 classrooms and 950 support rooms and laboratories, all equipped with state-of-the-art technology and monitored by highly trained professionals. The students also have areas for practical activities, such as clinics, agencies, offices, a theater, auditoriums, gymnasiums and multisports playing facilities, a swimming pool and seven libraries, housing an archive of 134 thousand book titles, with 303 thousand copies, and 12 thousand journal titles. Univali currently runs more than 70 higher education courses - including both undergraduate courses and vocational diplomas -, with more than a hundred different combinations of subjects, study locations and times of study. It also has 60 specialization/continuing development courses, nine master's degree programs and three PhDs. The institution also provides Basic Education, through its Colégio de Aplicação da Univali (CAU) in Itajaí, Tijucas and Balneário Camboriú, serving almost a thousand children and adolescents, and offering Pre-school through to Secondary Education. Univali's vision is to be recognized as a University of excellence in the activities of teaching, development and publication of research, and creative management, and as an instigator of social projects.
