Urology Consultants of the North Shore provides comprehensive care for the full spectrum of both adult and pediatric urologic conditions. The practice was formed in 1999 through a merger of the area's two leading urology groups that had been in practice on the North Shore since the early 1960s. The practice has grown remarkably from the original five urologists and now includes eight board-certified urologists and a physician's assistant. The main offices are in Salem at 400 Highland Avenue (8,000 square-feet facility) and in Newburyport. Both have state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment such as digital ultrasound and high-tech urodynamics. The urologists provide the latest in sophisticated office-based procedures, including treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia that include transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), transurethral microwave treatment (TUMT), or transurethral needle ablation (TUNA). For patients' convenience, Urology Consultants of the North Shore also operates a satellite office at the Beverly Hospital at Danvers Medical and Day Surgery Center, 480 Maple Street in Danvers. All of the urologists at Urology Consultants of the North Shore are on staff at North Shore Medical Center, Beverly Hospital, North Shore Children's Hospital and the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital. Altogether, the medical staff at Urology Consultants of the North Shore logs about 125 patients each day, which totals about 20,000 appointments per year.
