VisionSpring
VisionSpring is a pioneering social enterprise accelerating the uptake of affordable eyewear among people who earn less than $4 per day in emerging and frontier markets. VisionSpring uncovers latent demand for vision correction; conducts community, workplace, and school vision screenings; trains others to do the same; and supplies radically affordable and durable eyeglasses. VisionSpring has delivered more than 6 million pairs of eyeglasses, providing vision correction in 43 countries with over 450 NGO, corporate, Government, and hospital and healthcare partners. VisionSpring has been recognized for its innovative work, receiving multiple awards including the Skoll Award; Social Entrepreneur Fellowships from Draper Richards Kaplan, the Aspen Institute, and the Schwab Foundation; and honors from World Bank, Duke University, Fast Company, and the Tribeca Film Festival, among others. This year, VisionSpring expanded its focus to preventing the spread of COVID-19 in India, Bangladesh, and five countries in Sub-Saharan Africa by conducting COVID-19 response and relief activities and providing PPE kits and essential commodities. Through its COVID-19 work, VisionSpring has touched more than 2.5 million people so far this year.
