If so Vitfoss, in association with British Dairying, are offering you the opportunity for an all expenses paid, dairy study tour worth over £2,500 to the centre of the US dairy industry. Participants leave the UK on Saturday 13th and return on Friday 19th of September 2014 as part of a memorable trip organised by the Zinpro Corporation. The US tour comprises of 15 UK guests in three trucks visiting some of the top dairy herds in Minnesota and Wisconsin where the average herd size is 112 cows with the target to produce 45kgs of milk per cow per day. The aim of the tour is to allow key people involved in UK dairying to see at first hand how US producers are using the latest technology and tools to manage and sustain their businesses in a global market that optimises income over feed costs. Each day starts with a talk from a prominent dairy expert followed by farm visits to see the 'theory' in practice and will cover: Nutrition principles and blood profiling Efficient heifer rearing programmes Digital Dermatitis protocols Cow housing and building design Economics of milk production At Vitfoss we are focused on transferring the latest knowledge to continually improve the performance of dairy producers throughout Europe.
