Virginia Ophthalmology Associates was founded in 1984 by Dr. Annette Reda with a focus on adult and pediatric ophthalmology. We merged in 1992 with the Corneal Consultants of Tidewater and have since expanded to include fellowship trained specialists in pediatric ophthalmology, corneal surgery, glaucoma surgery, neuro-opthalmology and oculoplastic surgery. We also provide general eye care and routine eye exams for patients of all ages. Doctors Annette Reda and Donald Evans provide comprehensive eye care including laser treatment of glaucoma and diabetes. Doctors Mark Fernandez and Arielle Spitze perform small-incision cataract surgery and laser surgery. Dr. Fernandez is a fellowship trained cornea specialist who also performs corneal transplantation, pterygium surgery, ocular surface reconstruction, and laser vision correction. Dr. Spitze is a fellowship trained glaucoma specialist and neuro-ophthalmologist who performs surgical and laser procedures for the treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Lall-Trail is fellowship trained in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus and performs all aspects of pediatric eye care including surgery for childhood cataracts and poor tear drainage. He routinely performs surgery on children and adults with eye muscle problems (strabismus). Dr. Giovanni DiSandro is a fellowship trained oculoplastic and orbital surgeon who treats disorders of the eyelids and tear ducts in addition to general eye care. Our Optometrist, Dr. Ayesha Rahman, performs eye exams and contact lens fittings. At Virginia Ophthalmology Associates, the surgeon who performs your procedure is the surgeon who manages your postoperative eye care. In an effort to control health care costs for our patients, we make an effort to prescribe generic medications unless a branded medication is clearly superior. Our Ophthalmologists are board certified medical doctors.
