Vallecitos Water District
For over 55 years, Vallecitos Water District has been your water specialist, currently providing water, wastewater, and reclamation services to San Marcos; the community of Lake San Marcos; parts of Carlsbad, Escondido, and Vista. Formed in 1955 as a water-only district by a group of local citizens to answer the shrinking water table in the San Marcos and Twin Oaks valleys, the San Marcos County Water District grew as an independent, special district. Today, with a new name and extended focus, VWD currently serves a population of approximately 94,000 within a 45-square-mile boundary in north San Diego County. Guided by a comprehensive Master Plan, Vallecitos Water District is committed to its duties of delivering high quality water at the lowest possible cost, disposing of wastewater after collection, and treatment and recycling a portion of the water for reuse.
