Waldhausen

"All the best for your horse" - according to this guiding principle, Waldhausen, Cologne, Germany, produces and supplies everything for horse riding - for the pony rider, as well as for the Olympic champion. The history of Waldhausen started in 1836 when Anton Waldhausen - whose initials AWA are still carried in the logo today - founded a saddlery in Cologne, where saddles and harnesses were manufactured. The nomination of the company to be the imperial-royal supplier to the court, shows that already then quality and innovation were the hallmarks of Waldhausen. By the year 1895 Waldhausen has become the largest saddle and leather goods retailer in Germany. Later the production of suitcases and pieces of baggage develops to be an important main pillar. Particularly this branch of production helped the business to survive through difficult times, which it had to endure after World War 1. World War 2 also afflicted the saddlery Waldhausen, since the business premises had been totally destroyed. But, as well as so many others, the business was rebuilt and worked with success. Ups and downs accompanied the business. In 1961 E. Albrecht Assenmacher took over the company management. That was the catalyst for the expansion of the company to be what it is today: one of the largest companies within the equestrian business worldwide with almost 80 employees, a range of products containing over 6000 items and more than10,000 square meters of business area. The climax in the more recent history of Waldhausen was the move to the modern logistics center in Cologne-Ossendorf in the year 2000. From there 2,000 clients, all specialized dealers for equitation or wholesale dealers and foreign importers, are supplied with everything that helps horses and riders to be happy and successful. Hundreds of shipments leave the high rack stocking room on a daily basis to destinations all over the world, especially to Germany and Europe, but increasingly also to the USA where Waldhausen founded its own distribution centre in 2000. ...
