Warren County High School is located in a small, low wealth, rural community in Warren County. The largest employer in the county is the public school system. Although Warren County is mainly a farming area, there are now 12 small industrial companies that employ approximately 1000 people all together. There are several small businesses operating in and around the area. Warren County High School is the only public high school in Warren County, serving students in grades 9-12. The present facility consists of the original structure built in 1981 when the enrollment was 860, and additions were made in 1990 and 1999 to accommodate an ever-changing student body and new programs. The school has been fully accredited since 1982. In 1999, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) established its first Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Aerospace Academy (SEMMA) in a rural area at Warren County High School. Making Schools Work (MSW) goals, key practices, and key conditions are a framework for whole-school improvement at more than 1,000 high school sites in 23 states across the nation. Warren County received their latest accreditation in 2002 under the School Improvement Cycle. The community includes students, faculty, staff, and parents of Warren County High School. The mission of Warren County High School is to prepare our students to meet the challenges of the 21st century and to become productive, responsible and contributing members of society. The beliefs are: (1) Students' learning needs should be the primary focus of all decisions impacting the work of the school. (2) A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning. (3) The commitment to continuous improvement is imperative if our school is going to enable students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners. (4) Students learn in different ways and should be provided with a variety of instructional approaches to support their learning. 5) Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs. Total enrollment at Warren County High School is 1007. The ethnic composition of our school is 75% African-American, 18% Caucasian, 5% Native American, 1% Hispanic and 1% Other.
