Washington Fruit & Produce
At Washington Fruit we are committed to supplying safe, responsibly farmed and processed fruit that meets or exceeds industry standards. Our Food Safety Program consists of the following components: Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) - Good Agricultural Practices are a collection of principles to apply for on-farm production and post-production processes, resulting in safe and healthy food and non-food agricultural products, while taking into account economical, social and environmental sustainability. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an ecosystem approach to crop production and protection that combines different management strategies and practices to grow healthy crops and minimize the use of pesticides. Washington Fruit has an in-house entomology expert who works full time on IPM. Hazard Analysis Risk=based Preventive Controls (HARPC) - The HARPC system breaks down and analyzes each step of a process to identify where hazards can be introduced, or the risk of hazards can be reduced or controlled in order to produce the safest possible product. Washington Fruit is registered as meeting the requirements of the SQF 2000 CODE, Level 3 - Comprehensive Food Safety and Quality Management System. In addition, Washington Fruit & Produce Co. collects weekly environmental swabs for analysis by a 3rd party lab in order to help identify and eliminate any potential environmental sources of contamination, and verify our cleaning and sanitation procedures. Also, daily inspections conducted on site by the WA State Dept of Agriculture and our own internal quality control team helps ensure that we are only shipping safe, quality, fresh fruits.
