We-Empower
We-Empower is committed to promoting Global Food Security as the solution to current and future agricultural challenges. According to FAO and USAID, up to half of all food harvested is lost due to improper storage and handling. Decreasing post-harvest losses from 50% to 5% would result in almost doubling the effective food production, without cultivating any more land or requiring more water. This can be accomplished by utilizing existing technology. Reducing post-harvest losses is cost-effective and environmentally responsible. Rapidly increasing urban populations are becoming food insecure in many countries. Improving post-harvest handling supports the livelihoods of the rural poor, increases food quality and ensures the quantity of food needed by rapidly growing urban populations. Although the smallholder farmers are the backbone of the agricultural sector, they are the ones who are capacity constrained by poor infrastructure, poor nutrition, lack of access to finances and markets. Unfortunately, smallholder agriculture is often unprofitable, due to a lack of understanding of basic business concepts. Women make up most of the labor force in smallholder agriculture, but unfortunately women and girls rarely receive the same opportunities as boys and men. A sustainable agricultural system must be inclusive if it is to be developed to ensure an affordable food supply for all. We-Empower has created a team of highly qualified agribusiness professionals who are dedicated to improving Food Security by employing state-of-the-art technology and innovative approaches to farming as a business. We believe that education is the key to improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. Reducing post-harvest losses and improving livestock productivity are an important part of the Safety Net that can provide Food Security for growing populations throughout the developing world. We have the answers - Our team of experts stands ready to carry out our mission to improve Global Food Security . Our vision for the future is a healthy world population that is supported by a sustainable agricultural sector that is socially and environmentally responsible.
