We are delighted to reveal that SDI has won the Outstanding Achievement award at the annual Marks & Spencer supplier conference. The award, open to all of the retailer's supplier base, is in recognition of the work we undertook in helping one store to tackle organisational problems in its warehouse. Our team spent a day at the store to overhaul an area of the warehouse that contained old acrylic retail displays that were being overlooked by the staff. By sorting, categorising and labelling the old acrylic point-of-sale materials, we created a specific storage area and display system for the warehouse to improve the way these items were housed. Our work has not only made it easier for the store's staff to identify and find the products they need on a daily basis, but 'forgotten' stock is also now being reused, saving M&S thousands of pounds. The awards are part of M&S's annual conference, which is held for their suppliers in appreciation of the work carried out over the previous year and to share plans for the year ahead. "It's great to be singled out for such praise from a client like M&S, especially when you realise just how many leading suppliers the company has," said SDI managing director Ian Wright. "This project is a perfect example of how we invest time in our clients, sharing our retail expertise to improve their processes and performance. While we are happy to go the extra mile for any of our customers, it's fantastic to be recognised for our efforts in this way," continued Ian. Based on the insights gained from that day, our in-house design and prototype teams have developed and manufactured a bespoke back-of-house unit to help all M&S stores organise, label and utilise their in-store acrylic displays. It is expected that this unit will be rolled out across M&S stores nationwide throughout 2012 and beyond. SDI has been responsible for the production and logistics of M&S priority ticketing and acrylics since 2009. We created and manage a full-scale production, pick-and-pack and stock management system that's flexible for M&S's stock replenishment needs, both in the UK and overseas.
