Founded in 2001 West Coast Capital is the private investment vehicle of Sir Tom Hunter and his family. Our capital is committed and long term - patient capitalism if you will where some investments are beyond fifteen year windows for exit. The overall investment approach is straightforward focusing on retail (brands, bricks and mortar and e-commerce), property and technology. We avoid start-ups - though never say never - but facilitate their growth through founding support for Entrepreneurial Spark, the world's largest free business accelerator for early stage and growing investments. West Coast Capital is a hands on investor, working closely with management teams, adding value without second guessing those who know more than us. Previous deals include public to private transactions, venture capital investments and growth capital, together with some distressed debt opportunities which came along. Our overall transaction values are in the billions. Our typical deal size would be those where the equity requirement is between £3m and £20m. Life is full of exceptions.
