Westland Barton specialises in working to conserve and protect rare native breeds of farm animals from extinction. We believe in the value of the UK's rich and varied livestock heritage and that this needs to be conserved as a vital genetic resource for future generations and the benefit of agriculture. We are a environmentally friendly rare breeds smallholding located in the beautiful coastal countryside in North Cornwall. Using traditional methods we farm a range of different environments ranging from rugged coastal valleys to lush inland meadows. We keep a variety of rare breed sheep and graze them in harmony with the natural environment to ensure we protect the diverse wildlife found here in Cornwall. Our land is farmed without the use of agro-chemicals and all our stock are feed on homegrown hay. We are passionate about our animals and their needs always come first. Our husbandry, knowledgeable and skillful handling of livestock in a safe, efficient, effective, and low-stress manner, is key to our animals welfare. The consideration of our flocks natural behaviour and needs is paramount.
