Whalsay School

Whalsay School is made up of three separate buildings catering for Nursery, Primary and Secondary pupils. Our school has always been totally comprehensive in intake, since it is the only school on the Island. The aim is to meet the needs of every individual by offering a wide variety of courses of various types leading on, stage by stage, towards continuing education of all kinds at school, college or university. We aim to give the widest possible educational opportunity to every pupil and to encourage each pupil to develop their full potential by developing their skills and talents. As well as endeavouring to develop the academic potential of all the pupils, the school takes seriously its duty to develop the pupils social and moral values and hopefully when each pupil is finished his/her school career he/she is equipped to play a full and meaningful role in society. For our staff we ensure that opportunities exist to enable staff to continue with their professional development and remain dynamic, well-informed, cutting-edge practitioners.
