Whitefriars College
Whitefriars College aims to develop the gifts and talents of all students and in doing so also recognises that certain students have specific abilities which identify them as being gifted and talented. We recognise that in these particular cases, an individual program is needed to ensure that students seen as being gifted are provided with a program that will explore and extend their talents. The general philosophy of Whitefriars College is that where ever possible, any extension of a student's program is done within the mainstream classroom. That is, it is the responsibility of the class room teacher, with support from the Director of Learning Enhancement, to develop and implement innovative in-class learning programs, particularly for the brightest students. In providing for students who are gifted, the College hopes to build a partnership between the parents, the student and the College so that a positive and challenging program can be developed to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of the student.
