Wild West Dogsport
Our club has been in existence for 12 years and currently boasts one of the largest memberships in the Western KG. We have members from as far away as Denmark and, of course, many from California's Central Valley, where we meet weekly to train. We are open to all working breeds of dog that show an aptitude for the rigors of the sport and we take pride in our success in achieving titles with a variety of breeds including German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermanns, Tervurens, Giant Schnauzers, Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, and even a Tosa Inu. The club's success is due in large part to the expertise of its helper and training director, Joel Monroe. Joel and his German Shepherd, Arno od Vezenske Brany SchH3, IPO 3, VPG 3, took third place at the 2011 DVG Nationals. They then went on to represent DVG America at the German Bundessieger (All Breed Championship), where they received the highest protection score. Joel brings a wealth of experience (over 20 years) to his training work, along with excellent communication skills to help handler/dog teams from beginner to competitor achieve their goals. Our club president, Ann Boyce, came in third at last year's DVG Western KG Championships in Salem, Oregon, with her Dobermann, Ascomannis Magnus. She has titled eight Dobermanns in the sport of Schutzhund! Jeanita Davis, Wild West Dogsport's Vice President, earned a VPG 1 on her Tosa Inu Zelda, making her the only Tosa in the world with a Schutzhund protection title. She is currently training and titling working Dobermanns. Britt Coffman, the club treasurer, has been in the sport over 20 years and actively training dogs for nearly 30 years. She competed at the DVG Western Region Championships in 2001 with her male Dobermann, Bingo Germania, earning second place in the SchH II class. She is currently pursuing titles on her Dobermann Blue Wave's Bayla. Another club member, Feather Cresciman, came in second at the DVG Western KG Championships in 2010 with her Dobermann, Usa von Eschenbruch. At this competition this team earned a perfect 100 score in tracking! The club currently has nearly 20 dogs actively training with over 15 of them being Dobermanns. The club prides itself on its environment of learning and the pursuit of excellence. The Officers and Members of Wild West Dogsport hope you will enjoy our new website. We also hope to see you soon at training! News
