We make no bones about how we work - we are a small Australian company based in Torquay, Victoria, just near Geelong. We use many talented sub-contractors. Most of the time we are virtual - communicating by email, skype or phone. And more if needbe. We started in Barwon Heads many years ago. Just down the road from 13th Beach - a famous surf beach, but a great place to walk. So, we used the name in front of the word marketing. We now work in Torquay on Victoria's coast, just a short walk from the beach and a few kilometres from the town centre. We've found this to be the best way to work for us, we've tried offices but they don't suit our style. While it's a long way to Melbourne or to some of our clients, we trade the travel time against living on the coast. We meet with our clients in their offices, or offsite at another pleasant location nearby. If it's a restaurant with Yum Cha around lunch time that's always a good choice of meeting place too. We use talented people, individuals who want to work differently, who are creative and who freely and comfortably work with others, but for themselves. Whatever the job, we choose the right team of people to work on our client's projects. We look for designers who best match the job at hand. But most important they can add to the job, not just do the job. We have a solid, practical understanding of business. We are marketing people with heart, truly. Our client is the focus of our work and what they want to achieve. We work with them initially identifying their strategic focus, or help them develop one. Conversations with clients involve questions such as: What do you want to do? What does that mean? What does it look like? What are the possibilities? ?We spend a bit of time working with our clients before we start on their project. But if they know what you want, then it can be quicker. If you want to explore what could be, allow some time for this. Context is an important part of our processes. We like mind-maps to identify the important & opportunities with our clients. We like sketching out ideas. We've worked with many clients - regional councils/shires, motels, clubs & pubs, restaurants, olive oil producers, manufacturers, associations, artists, marketing companies, not-for-profits, psychologists & more.
