Wood Brokerage International is firmly committed to the legal trade of wood products. We realize that a healthy environment is essential for the well-being of our industry, our society, and our families. We are committed to taking an environmentally responsible position on the products we import. It is our intention to meet our customers' needs for forest products while fully complying with the Lacey Act Amendment provisions regarding plant and plant products enacted by the US Government in 2008. The provisions require compliance with all applicable national and international laws or regulations regarding timber harvesting. We do not knowingly purchase wood products that are derived from illegal logging and are vigilant in our commitment to require all our suppliers provide us with proper legal documentation verifying legitimate sources, encompassing the entire supply chain. WBI strives to partner only with suppliers who share our same passion for sustainable and legal forestry practices. WBI has a seat on the Board of Directors of the International Wood Products Association (IWPA) and is helping in the shaping of IWPA's recommendations for Due Care. WBI holds a Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Chain of Custody Certification License Code FSC-C103398 WBI is a member of the Tropical Forest Foundation (TFF) and supports its standard of Reduced Impact Logging (RIL) WBI's designated compliance officer works on a continual basis to research our suppliers beyond required documentation received. This includes, but is not limited to, gaining information about their concessions, licenses, outside purchases of logs and lumber and doing independent documentation verification, with the intent of tracking the product from harvesting to processing to export. Our compliance officer also researches laws, country by country, to ensure mills are fulfilling their obligation to legally harvest timber.
