Wayamba University of Sri Lanka

The Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, established in October 1999 has shown potential for rapid and steady development over the past 17 years. As its 5th Vice-Chancellor, my mission for the University is that it should become a centre of excellence in higher education in the SAARC Region by the year 2025. This would entail the development of both human and physical resources to match the national and international standards and benchmarks through innovative academic programmes, research and outreach programmes. Continuous improvement of the quality and relevance of existing degree programmes and initiating new academic programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels will be of importance to reach the above objective. Further, every effort will be made to increase student admissions to contribute to the Government's target of facilitating 50,000 students for higher education by 2020.
