Your Housing Group

At the beginning of April Derwent & Solway housing association, part of Your Housing Group, was rebranded as Your Derwent & Solway as part of a Group-wide brand restructure. As a result Your Derwent & Solway has a selection of new and unused promotional items including pencils, rubbers, notepads, bookmarks, and a range of branded safety workwear such as high viz bibs and polo t-shirts. To ensure these items didn't go to waste Your Derwent & Solway has linked up with Cumbria - Rungwe Community Link to provide communities in Tanzania with much needed school equipment and clothing. Gordon Henry from Your Derwent & Solway, said: "When we looked at how many pencils, rubbers and other items we had left over we wanted to make sure that they were put to good use. It would be a waste, both practically and environmentally to have just disposed of them, and that is not what we're about as individuals or as an organisation. Your Housing Group is committed to transforming lives and communities, and through this donation we are extending our vision to the Rungwe communities." Mary Kipling, Secretary of Cumbria - Rungwe Community Link, said: "Our partners in Rungwe District, Tanzania, have the will and determination to provide the best education they can for their next generations, but they lack resources. Anything we can contribute to help build and equip classrooms is welcomed with open arms. I've seen members of CRCL reduced to tears over the gratitude shown by Rungwe pupils for a few pens and pencils! This generous donation from Your Derwent and Solway not only diverts unwanted resources from being wasted here; it provides very real and appreciated resources for Rungwe." The Cumbria-Rungwe Community Link was established in 1987 with the aim of linking two rural communities with similar, yet different ways of life.
