Zachary High School
The Zachary Community Schools operate in a grade center concept. By the time of graduation a student will have attended all of the schools in the district. Students begin at Northwestern Elementary School. This school serves students in grades PreK through first. Students then move on to Zachary Elementary for second and third grade. They then move to Copper Mill Elementary for fourth and fifth grade. Middle school students attend Northwestern Middle for grades six through eight. Zachary High School, the district's only high school houses, students grades nine through twelve. The District also has Port Hudson Career Academy which houses both the Options and Alternative school programs. The District serves the needs of all students with top notch academics and a wide range of extracurricular offerings. Zachary High School has Honors, Advanced Placement and Gifted Curriculums. The schools have comprehensive athletic programs for boys and girls as well as extensive music and dramatic arts activities. In August of 2004, The District unveiled a 5-Year Strategic Plan for the Future of Zachary Schools. The plan consists of goals in the areas of Accountability and Testing, Curriculum, Personnel, Community Partnerships, School Climate and Technology.
