Zambia Institute of Planners

ZIP is the professional institute for the planning professions engaged in different spheres of the planning profession. In terms of what we do, mainly is to enforce that planning is well regulated and practiced by professionals. We work very closely and in partnership with the central government, employers and other allied professional bodies to promote the professional development of planning professionals. Developing Quality Planners: We build the capacity of the planning profession to deliver better planning for communities for the benefit of the public at all times. Supporting the Professional Planner: We support and nurture planners from the lecture room to the offices to create a strong, connected planning community that is responsive to the needs of the people. Professional self-regulation is at the heart of everything we do. Sustainable Planning: We are inclusive in our approach so that plans take into account people, targets the outcomes and processes needed to better plan for the future, and the challenges we face. Zambia Institute of Planners believes supporting our everyday life; connecting us with places to live, to work, to study and to play through better planning. Furthermore, we are certain that better planning makes it possible for us to create places that we love and that nurture us now and into the future. Planning matters most because our planning professionals are the key agents of change. We want to inspire planners to shape the republic and create better places through government, private sector, civil society and community support. Professional self-regulation in public interest for quality professionals with quality practice is the foundation we are built upon. The Zambia Institute of Planning (ZIP) is a body corporate created under the Urban and Regional Planning Act No 4 of 2011 as the only voice of professional planning. Our member continued professional development and growing knowledge in responding and providing solutions that really work is at the centre and heart of everything we do.
