So Long, and Thanks for All the Eucalyptus

Almost four years ago, Matt, Netto, and I started Koala with a simple but powerful belief: that arming sellers with better context about prospects would drive truly meaningful buyer conversations. That turned out to be true—for hundreds of companies that used Koala to find their ICP, ramp an outbound motion, or feed mature, multi-region sales teams.
We are so grateful for the early wins, the late night Slacks, and the years of trust from incredible companies.
But over the last year in particular, we witnessed two seismic shifts:
- A growing need for flexibility at scale: The arrival of AI opened up new possibilities for solving the last-mile problem of sales actionability. This quickly changed what our customers wanted and needed from us.
- AI's expanding impact beyond GTM: As we poured ourselves into AI features that let sellers craft the most contextually-aware messaging possible, we realized what we most enjoyed building was no longer aligned to what our customers really needed.
These shifts have clarified that the future of GTM belongs to platforms that can capture signals and orchestrate the complex workflows needed to convert signals into real business outcomes.
And while we no longer believe Koala is best fit to answer that call, we do believe what we’ve built has value—outside of GTM. To that end, we’ve entered into an acquisition agreement with a company that will enable us to preserve and continue to grow our code, in a slightly different context. More on where we're headed in a future post.
For now, our team is committed to spending the time we have left ensuring the smoothest possible offboarding for every customer.

What's Happening
Effective September 30, 2025, Koala as you know it will be wound down. We understand this news may come as a surprise, and we want to be completely transparent about what's ahead:
- All Koala capabilities will sunset on September 30, 2025
- We are processing refunds for unused subscription months
- If not extracted prior to Sept 30, all of your data will be securely deleted
Most importantly, we're not leaving you to navigate this change alone.
Our Partnership with Common Room
We know that Koala represents more than just a tool in your stack—it's part of workflows that drive real business results. This transition will undoubtedly disrupt programs and processes you've invested significant time building, and we don't take that responsibility lightly.
Over the past few weeks, we've been working closely with Common Room to develop comprehensive transition plans for interested customers. This partnership is based on the genuine belief that they are the most complete alternative for Koala users, with the most robust vision for what this market needs next.
Where Koala focused more on arming sellers with context in a way that was more dependent on individual seller action, Common Room has increasingly invested in offering greater flexibility—to provide the widest variety of signal sources, as well as built-in automation to turn those insights into action at scale. Importantly, Common Room is generously honoring existing Koala pricing for comparable packages and providing white-glove transition support. Their team has been incredible partners in ensuring continuity for customers who choose to continue this journey with them.
What We've Learned
Building Koala alongside GTM teams at companies like Vercel, DX, Sanity, and Retool has been an extraordinary privilege. You didn't just use our product—you helped shape it, challenged our assumptions, and became advisors and friends along the way.
We've learned that successful GTM isn't just about having the right signals; it's about having the right context, at the right time, with the right tools to act on it. We've seen the most successful teams combine technical sophistication with deep empathy for their buyers' journeys.
Most importantly, we've learned that this community of GTM operators, RevOps professionals, and sales leaders represents some of the most innovative problem-solvers we've ever encountered. The creative ways you've adapted Koala to solve unique challenges—from complex warehouse integrations to novel prospecting workflows—have consistently amazed us.
What's Next for Koala
While we're stepping away from the GTM space, we're not stepping away from building. The core team is moving to a new environment where we can apply the lessons learned and technology developed at Koala to challenges that better match our engineering DNA and passion for developer tooling.
We're excited about what comes next, and we're grateful that our work at Koala will continue to have impact in its new home.
