Koala raises $15M Series A to make every seller a GTM engineer

When Matt, Netto, and I worked together at Segment, our mission was to make it incredibly easy for organizations to connect all of their first-party data.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say Segment revolutionized how marketing, product, and engineering teams modeled and engaged with customers.
But it turned out, those aren’t the only teams that needed help! Years later, when we looked at how SDRs were attempting to connect with prospects, we were… horrified 😅.
Here were these bright, ambitious graduates tasked with the company's most critical mission, armed with nothing but a couple of contact databases and a prayer. The difference in how they engaged with prospects, versus how we had just helped other teams engage with customers was too big to ignore.
We built Koala to bring sales teams into the next generation of GTM. For 3 years we tirelessly tuned the UX to fit their ideal flow, added automation to augment their work, and built all of it on top of what we think is the most comprehensive signal platform on the market.
And a lot of really outstanding companies came along for the ride! Vercel, Retool, Sanity.io, Deepgram, Statsig, and so many others now use Koala to grow pipeline that actually converts (>$1B in pipeline last year alone, if we’re counting). But what truly excites me is the DMs I still get from individual reps. Last week a BDR wrote to say he truly believed his 185% quota attainment was thanks to Koala. These moments were always the goal—and always will be!
Our conviction is simple:
- We believe the last decade of volume-based pipeline plays has come to a close. Buyers need personalized experiences from first contact to close.
- We believe sellers armed with context convert at a higher rate than automation alone. The AI SDR has failed to deliver on its promises.
- We believe reps are long overdue for tools they want to use—and can’t afford to be bottlenecked on RevOps in building plays they know work.
