Leveraging Slack Alerts

Slack alerts are one of the most valuable parts of the platform, notifying you when specific actions occur to help you understand account activity and engage at the right moment. We’ll provide a quick overview of setting them up and strategies to act on the alerts.

Setting up Intent Signals & Alerts

  1. To set up a Slack channel, start by setting up an intent signal. Navigate to settings -> intent signals. Select from our list of suggestions like page views, form fills, and session time, or customize your own.
  1. Once you set up an intent signal, you will have the option to connect a Slack alert. The value in doing this is that you will get alerted in a Slack channel when that specific action happens.
  1. When you set up Slack alerts, there are several ways to filter them to provide insights on the right set of accounts to reps:
    1. Filter to accounts owned by specific reps.
    2. Filter down to a specific set of accounts, such as a target list.
    3. Send alerts to a specific Slack channel. For example, we have split up our alerts by #prod-marketing for website alerts, #prod-app for product-related alerts, and #target-accounts for our list of 100 target accounts. This helps us filter through the noise with these alerts.

Actioning Slack Alerts

Adara Parker, an Enterprise AE at Retool, put it best: “you want to make sure you zero inbox your Koalas.” The beauty of Slack alerts for specific signals is that you know these are high-intent engagements, and you get an alert to help you engage with perfect timing.

Keep in mind, you likely don’t want to engage based on every signal, but it keeps you on top of what’s going on in that account.

Once you click into an alert, you will be brought into the Account or Visitor view of Koala, where you can go deeper to understand the overall engagement.
